We’re seeking a Full-Time Senior Bookkeeper to support financial operations for Ausdocs Group, and its medical practices across Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting practice-level reporting, and ensuring full compliance with Australian accounting standards and healthcare-related obligations.
About Us
Ausdocs Group currently owns and manages 16 GP medical centres in Queensland. Our primary head office is in Brisbane, with a smaller satellite office in regional Queensland based out of Gladstone. The group is currently experiencing steady growth with additional medical centres across the Eastern seaboard, soon becoming part of our expanding network.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Accounts Manager, the day-to-day responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Managing bookkeeping for multiple medical practices under the group
- Maintaining accurate general ledger records, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Performing monthly and year-end close processes (inc. BAS prep and lodging)
- Preparing practice-level financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow etc.)
- Monitoring and reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable
- Processing and reviewing payroll
- Supporting annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis Maintaining compliance with ATO obligations, including GST, PAYG, and Superannuation
- Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and tax agents for EOFY processes
- Maintaining strong internal controls and assisting in system/process improvements
- Working with practice managers to provide financial insights and training
- Supervising / mentoring other accounts team staff as needed9
- Some weekday travel might be required between Gladstone and Brisbane.
Qualifications and Experience We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, with multi-entity or healthcare industry experience highly regarded
- Qualifications in Accounting, Bookkeeping or Finance (Cert IV, Diploma or Degree level)
- Advanced proficiency with XERO accounting software
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g. Tanda, Deputy, Employment Hero or similar)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel)
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and compliance requirements
- Understanding of the Medicare system, private billing models, and practice management software (e.g., Best Practice, MedicalDirector, or Genie) would be an advantage
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and problem-solving ability
